Flying Snake

This somewhat bizarre insect was hanging around on a window on Friday. After a bit of google based research it was revealed to be Atlantoraphidia maculicollis. First record for the lodge, and possibly for any RSPB reserve

  1. Stunning beast Will, have never seen any of the snake-flies. Have checked the AIDGAP key by Plant (1997) and agree it does seem to be this species. Looks like it's not terribly rare but apparently seldom seen as usually at tops of trees. Nice one.
